Welcome to Team in Training
SGV Summer Season
Welcome to our website! Our team (SGV) is a part of Team In Training's Greater Los Angeles Chapter. We train every Saturday morning, usually at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. We are proud to welcome walkers and runners of all abilities.
On this team website you will find all the info to get you started & keep you connected with your team and the TNT/LLS mission. You can also learn about your amazing mentors, support staff and coaches! Also, check out our inspirational honored teammate stories!
Coaches Notes : for 5/19 – 6 AM START
Hey kids,
We are getting so close now. Are you excited? I am. Tomorrow we will be talking before the run on what to expect on race day. This includes a step by step of the morning of the race, what to expect, where to be, what to wear etc. Kevin and I will be going over all these fun and essential details for you so especially for those that have not done a race before, this is a must.
For both SD and Alaska as I have mentioned before this is crunch time. This is the time to watch what you eat, don’t do anything out of the ordinary, no extreme sports, pedicures etc.
This is also the time to know that if you have any niggling aches or pains you want to take the time to rest and recover. Your body has the stamina and usage built up so if you are in the pool for the next 2 weeks you will still be fine. Aqua jogging is a great way for your muscles and ligaments to still get the same movement as if you were walking or running with no impact.

April calendar/schedule is available.
We have the team training calendar updated on this web site to include everything in April. Just select the top menu item for “Schedules & Maps” and then the drop down for “Training Schedule & Season Calendar“.
http://www.sgvtnt.com/summer/training-schedule/
You will find a wealth of information contained in the calendar (far more than we can fit into the printed version we hand out at practice).
The map is maintained as a Google Calendar which you can load on to your phone. Just click the link provided at the bottom of that page to the Google Calendar iCal – and you can load the calendar straight onto your phone/iPad or whatever.
If you happen to use Outlook there is another link provided that will automatically synchronize the calendar and keep it updated when changes are made.
If you prefer the simple one-page version – you can view and print that here too.

“Thumbs Up” for Ale from the team
Van and Virginia visited with our most precious Honored Teammate last night to deliver the “Thumbs Up” poster created by the team last weekend. Ale is still in isolation at Children’s Hospital LA after her Bone Marrow Transplant last month. This is what Virginia had to say.
“Delivered poster to Ale just now. She had surgery yesterday to find out what’s going on in her lung. Turns out probably infection, not cancer. Whew! Waiting for detailed test results. She loved the poster (attached) and was pretty upbeat. Her usual positive outlook.”
Ale is why we do what we do.

Tyler Update February 2011 (from Holly, Tyler’s Mom)
Because his health is so good, he will be able to go to a 4 day sleepaway camp with his class in April. He is really excited about this, and I’m so thrilled he’s in a place physically where he can do it! This time last year it wouldn’t be possible, because he was taking 76 pills over the course of the day, and at such crazy times – it would have been too challenging for the counselors to manage. But now he’s down to 15 pills a day, and only has to take them when he wakes up and goes to bed. I know this is still a lot for some people, but it’s a huge improvement for Tyler!
