Coaches’ Email – Week Seven

Amazing SGV Summer Team!

We are sure many, if not most of you, are now officially running and walking further than you ever have before in your lives. How awesome is that!!! By the looks of things, you’re having a great time doing it too!

As difficult as it may be to contemplate running and walking these long distances each week, it can be so much more difficult to hold yourself back, cutting a work-out short or cross-training, when some unusual ache, pain or illness rears its ugly head! You have all set big goals for yourselves, and having to miss workouts can test your faith in your ability to accomplish your mission. That’s where your Coaches come in…. Remember, we have helped coach 100’s of runners and walkers to successfully complete their races, as well as had our own share of marathon-training set-backs. We mean it literally when we tell you that we FEEL your pain! So call us, email us, when things come up and never be afraid to cut a workout short (or skip it altogether) if things don’t feel quite right!! I have not heard from a few of you recently, so I am wondering if you are not telling me something important – hmmm. This week is a big one, and we want you to listen to your body and talk to your coaches!!

This week’s quote is:

“The marathon is a charismatic event. It has everything. It has drama. It has competition. It
has camaraderie. It has heroism. Every jogger (or walker) can’t dream of being an Olympic champion, but he can dream of finishing a marathon.” – Fred Lebow

LA MARATHON- Many of the staff did the LA Marathon this last weekend, so look for some amazing smiles and medals. They might even tell you how awesome the experience was with a story or two!! GO TEAM to all you amazing marathoners!!!

If you are not going to be at Agoura Hills- please do the miles on your own. Those doing a full marathon should do 6 miles (a 10k is 6.2 miles – NOT 10 miles) or 2 laps around the Rosebowl, and the half marathoners should go 3 miles or once around the Rosebowl.
