I’m Coach Dave, and I’m the Head Run/Walk Coach for the San Gabriel Valley Team In Training Marathon program. I’m terrifically excited to be your coach for what will be a FANTASTIC season. We’ve got some great races, an inspiring and talented staff, and some really awesome training planned.

If you want to get a jump on your training here are a few things to keep in mind:

Don’t overdo it. There is plenty of time to get ready. If you’re new to this sort of thing, then just run or walk about four times a week for a half hour to 45 minutes at a time.

Always train safe. Pick a route that is in a well traveled area, and if training at night, make sure the area is well lit. Pick a route where you can keep a safe distance from car traffic. Train with someone else whenever possible.

Start eating healthy. There is plenty of information available about what makes a good diet, so read up on nutrition and teach yourself to know what matters.

Don’t go out and buy new shoes and clothes! NOT YET! Wait till after our shoe and clothing clinic that will occur early in the season. That way you won’t waste your money by getting the wrong shoes or clothes. The right equipment does NOT have to be expensive, but it has to be RIGHT!

That’s it for now. If you have any specific questions feel free to email me.

GO TEAM!
